How much should you spend on a logo?
Story time.
My first logo: I did a trade with a designer so the logo would be free. I thought I was being clever and smart. 6 months later the logo still wasn’t done, and I wasn’t even happy with the progress. Don’t trade for a logo.
My second logo: I went to 99designs with the intention of spending $300 on a logo. I saw dozens of designs, picked one that I liked then
…but I’d cringe at now…
And paid $300 for the design. Well it looked great in isolation, but I didn’t know what brand fonts or colors to use or how to use it. So I ended up getting another one designed.
This time I paid about $700 for a logo. I made endless tweaks until the company finally told me they wouldn’t tweak it anymore. I used it for a few years, until I realized it was embarrassingly complex (my fault!) and just not the vibe I wanted to give off. The company was right, I should have stopped tweaking it.
$900 to finally get it right
Now my company makes logos, but we’ve learned from these mistakes…
