Website Tip: SEO Header best practices
Headers are the most important piece of information on your website, period.
Just like a newspaper article, they tell visitors what to expect that page, and can get them excited about reading further.
But just as importantly, you’re communicating to Google what information is on your page, so Google knows how to index it correctly and when to match it with people searching the web.
So headers are really important.
And the most important header is header number one, also known as the H1 tag.
Here are 5 best practices for H1 headers:
Use an H1 on every searchable page of your website
Only use one H1 per page
Aim for a length of 60 to 155 characters
Use SEO keywords in your header
Make your header catchy, so people want to read more
If this is helpful, I want to see some of your newly perfected H1 headers!
